I'm going to be honest about this one, I've seen it enough that I know what happens and even some of the dialogue. The hairstyles in this movie are maybe my favorite out of any movie ever. I put this on as somewhat of a background noise movie while I laid out on the couch and tried to get my bone rot to stop. I definitely almost fell asleep a couple times, but that's not on this movie.
I read a bit on what Mel Gibson wanted out of this movie and I think he knocked it out of the park. It's a new take on the action-chase genre and even though the loose plot has been done a lot, it's never been done this way in this era with these people. There's something about using a Mayan language for this that really gives it even better atmosphere. I think if they had done it in English, it would've taken some of the shine off of it, though not much really.
Though this movie also clocks in at over 2 hours, it's pretty intense for most of it. There isn't much of it where you'll think "I wish they'd move this along." Maybe a couple parts here and there, but overall it works. The scenery, the architecture, the language, and the acting is so good. I think you could possibly say that Seven (his pregnant wife) wasn't hitting the mark, but everyone else was, even the kids.

Do yourself a favor and check this one out. Ignore that Mel Gibson is part of it and view it for what it is.
