I don't remember the circumstances of first seeing this movie, but for some reason it became some sort of weird comfort movie. I can't explain this, especially watching it again NOW all these years later.
This movie is so goofy. It has some pretty poorly manufactured drama and a sort of mystery that's not very compelling. I think the worst part of it is the music and soundtrack. It makes it feel like a made for TV movie. Or I guess a direct-to-video feel. This movie somehow made $50 million at the box office. I wonder how many people complained about it after seeing it.
The cast is probably what lured people in. It has Pacey the Mighty Duck, Leslie Bibb (although was she even known at the time?), Coach Hayden Fox, The Long Man, and Paul Walker. Outside of Pacey, the acting is actually not too bad. The script is horrible and silly, which probably doesn't help things. And I take it back, Paul Walker sucks in this too. Bibb is good. The Senator is super cheesy and his "Virginia accent" is ... something else.
The biggest problem I have with this movie outside of those things is that none of it even makes sense. It's very Conspiracy Theory but without the Mel Gibson. Oh, also it's LONG. It's 106 minutes, but for this type of movie that just isn't that engaging, it feels like eternity.
All that said, I was still entertained by this movie. Hey, if you've read any of these posts, you already know I'm an idiot.

No, but I mean, it's stupid fun.
