This was the first movie I ever saw Anna Faris in. She really plays a great "dumb, good girl" in this. She's innocent but funny. Sweet but kind of creepy. She has some great lines and also is really good with physical comedy. Shawn Wayans probably has the most memorable character who is seemingly repressed but also overtly gay. It's definitely of that time, but I still laugh at it. It's all very silly. Regina Hall always cracks me up as Brenda in these movies. She's a great balance to Anna Faris' sweetness. The only character I never really liked much was Shorty and I think it's because he's so one-note.
This movie has so many funny little jokes throughout that it's hard to really pick one that sticks out. I love the sheriff. Everything about him cracks me up. It's kind of in the same vein as The Naked Gun and Airplane! There's no dragging or slow plodding in this 88 minutes.
The story is a mash-up of Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer for the most part. There are other references thrown in as well, but the majority of the movie is basically 70% Scream and 30% IKWYDLS. If you haven't seen those, you're going to be lost on the references.
