There was some discussion about this movie that revealed nothing but did say it's a bizarre movie. I went into this blind otherwise.
After watching it, I looked at some reviews and discussion. It's a very highly rated/cult classic sort of movie. There is a lot of talk about themes, psychology, and general horror around it. Rather than giving you any sort of psychological take on this movie, I want to focus on how annoyingly over the top everyone was. Because, really, none of this matters if you are watching it and feeling like you're being tortured by abysmal acting.
Dr Alan Grant stars in this as somewhat mechanical, but super emotional husband of a cheating wife. Funnily, he also admits that he cheats, yet he's still mad about it all. This breakup consumes him and he lets it all out with BAD ACTING. Not just bad acting, but really LOUD bad acting. I felt like I was the one being tortured in this rather than his character. There's so much shouting, smashing stuff, crashing stuff. I can't tell you how annoyed I was throughout.
The cast was pretty small overall, yet it's somehow not even worth going over each of them. I hated all of them. It had the acting of a low-tier Giallo with the tone of a Cronenberg movie.

This sounds like an interesting combination, but I'm telling you the acting was SO BAD that I cannot recommend this at all. You have to go in blind and the payoff for doing so takes at least an hour before it reveals itself. Do you want to suffer through an hour of terrible acting and yelling to see something that MAY shock you if you've never seen any body horror? That's up to you, friend.
