Last time I saw this was when I was younger. I still remember my parents having it on VHS and after seeing it once, wondering WHY they had it. But you know, I believe in second chances. Maybe as an adult I'll appreciate it! It's been nearly 30 years since I saw it, so let's do this.
I'm going to spoil the plot of this movie for you because it's kind of necessary to talk about anything in it. The basic gist is there's a family (brother/sister combo) running a farm that smokes meats, but it's HUMAN MEAT! gasp Turns out they're trapping people who stay in their motel and turning them into "ham" and other meaty treats.
Logistically, this makes no sense. They also have pigs, so while maybe you could argue the people are free, they also bury them in the "secret garden" up to their neck, slice their vocal chords so they can't speak (scream), and then feed them for a while before they're ready to eat. This is a lot of money and effort. Again, they already have pigs and DO use them too. Why would they go to the hassle of storing cars in a marsh and trying to avoid the cops? And how does this cop that is their brother NOT know what is going on?
You can see this movie is stupid from that, but let me tell you some more! The acting is horror-movie-ok. Nothing is going to blow your mind. But the pacing of this is brutal. It's so boring. It's actually more of a twisted love story than a horror movie. I mean, yeah they're killing and eating people BUT the crux of this is the love triangle going on between the main farmer, the cop (his brother), and a young lass the farmer was initially going to cook. The sister has this weird jealousy thing going on with her. It makes no sense.
I don't really want to think about this movie anymore.
Recommended?
No. It's still bad.
