All of the stuff from the Fellowship movie applies here. What makes this better is the content of it rather than anything that's like.. different in terms of cast or whatever. This movie has the most action and probably the least weird scenes between Sam and Frodo, though there are still plenty.
If I have one more big complaint to get on with, it's the flipping Ents. They're so slow and lumbering, and I get that they're supposed to be but it becomes kind of annoying. And really I think it doesn't help that Merry and Pippin become more annoying with the trees.
I don't care about the Elf love subplot either. Arwen is not an interesting character in this movie, and I'll fight anyone who disagrees. The other elf stuff is ok, but it's a bit minimal, even in this extended edition. I want to see more about their back and forth about supporting the humans rather than seeing them pop up.
I find it weird that they fight at Helm's Deep with the men, but at the end, it's only men around. Where did all of the elves go!? Did they all die? Did they just leave immediately? It's weird.
So anywho, this is the best one because it starts fasts and stays fast the whole way.
