I went into this one pretty blind, but I have heard people claim that it's "actually pretty good" compared to his first go. I think what people are trying to say is that he goes off on his own more and it works better than remaking the original. I would agree with that thought if you were to ask me if this works better.
That doesn't mean this movie made much sense or was very good. Quite honestly this movie felt incredibly tropey. It still had the horrible shake cam thing going on (which I've mentioned I hate BUT I WILL SHOUT IT FROM A MOUNTAIN TOP). Can I just see something please? No, no I cannot. There's lots of blood if you're into that, but I don't really think the gore does much of anything for it.
The acting is .. fine. Lots of repeat actors from the last one and they play the same notes. Danielle Harris is pretty good. Possibly the best actor of the group? I'm not a fan of Scout Taylor-Compton as Laurie.
There's some potential symbolism here that I don't really feel like fit well or really made much of an impact. It was ... blah. Some of that is that Sherri Moon Zombie feels kind of listless in this one. Part of it is just over-the-top in your FACE. I don't know.
One other thing to complain about is that they give you this FAKE OUT early on where you think "oh they really are just redoing Halloween 2" with the hospital, but they bail within the first.. I don't know, 15 minutes? I hated the hospital stuff in this and the other Halloween 2 is also not that good. Hospital stuff sucks.

No. It's not much better than the other one.
