I had heard of this movie. Shoot, you probably have too! It was a huge title and had Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as anchors and won at least one Oscar. But having just watched it, did it only win because of who they are? It's a lonely movie due to the limited cast, obviously, but after a pretty interesting start, it quickly fell off as it went on. There's little dialogue, extreme suspension of disbelief, and ultimately it's a story of a woman overcoming her own anxiety and history. That's not bad in a bubble, but it doesn't work for me. The acting is good, although I thought Clooney was a bit off somehow. The story is not particularly good and the pacing is uneven enough that I started to lose interest in the middle section. The absolutely wild series of events that had to happen to lead to the conclusion is too large of a hurdle. How many movies have you seen where someone has trouble during training but somehow manages to pull it off flawlessly when it's crunch time? It was both uninteresting and played out.

Recommended?

No. It's a space movie in theory, but a personal story in practice. But you've heard that personal story before in better ways.
