It's been a while since I watched this one and it's supposed to be as close to the source as possible, so why not check it out again?
This movie FEELS like 1970 in all the worst ways. It's slow, plodding, and has some of the silliest camera tomfoolery and framing of any movie. ZOOM TO FACE! ZOOM TO FACE! ZOOM TO WALL! ZOOM TO TAXIDERMY! Oh yeah, what's up with the taxidermy? I don't know, and I doubt the director did either.
This movie may play it close to the source, but it's BORING and the acting/voice over dubs are horrendous. I don't feel great saying that about this movie that is seen as a "classic" but it's true.
