After watching The Chronicles of Riddick, I was left wanting more of the lore, the creatures, the costumes. They didn't give me more, really.
Riddick is more of a return to a Pitch Black style of movie in a way. Focused more on a smaller cast in a smaller area dealing with external forces as much as internal. In this case, it was "mud demons" (according to the wiki, I don't recall them calling them that). The creatures were fine. The explanation of how he got alone was ok, but maybe they could've trimmed up the early parts of him being a caveman.
Because this movie is somewhat of a retread of Pitch Black, it has big shoes to fill. It didn't fill them. It wasn't a BAD movie, but it was no where near as good as the first two.
I was very sad when his weird space dog died. They loved showing it die too. Rude.
