While I have seen this movie so many times that I know basically every line of dialogue, this was the first time I got my daughter to watch it! That's exciting right?! She has been historically scared to watch horror movies, but I assured her this one is silly. She's nearly 16 in case you're reading this and thinking I'm awful for showing it to her.
But let's get on with it. The cast is a bunch of folks you'll recognize from other 80s movies, particularly Miguel A. Nuñez Jr. He was in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning the same year (and basically played the same character)! Linnea Quigley appears here in form you'd expect of her. And Tommy Jarvis is in it! I mean Thom Mathews. He plays old Tommy Jarvis in F13th VI and ALSO shows up in RotLD 2. Oh, and you have Clu Galager who was ALSO in A Nightmare on Elm Street 2. WHAT A LOAD OF FOLKS!
This is a horror movie, so the story is a bit goofy. It continues after Night of the Living Dead, playing on it as a true story. The things that happen here are directly related to that movie in some way. They have a little twist on it that makes it a lot better, though. The dead aren't just dead, but sentient and they need brains to ease the pain of rotting. Pretty dark in a way, but also funny. Not only that, but they know how to manipulate the police and medics to get more brains.
I'm not going to spoil anything here, but let me say it's a fun and silly horror movie that hits the right spots. It's pure 80s in every way and I love it. It's really what a horror movie SHOULD be if it's not going for "scary."
