I don't remember this movie so let's say I've never seen it. It's very similar to the other Angelia Jolie Tomb Raider, for better or worse. If you enjoyed the other one, GUESS WHAT! you'll enjoy this one. I don't have much to say about it because of that.
The acting is all fine. Gerard Butler is in this and turns into Bilbo looking at the One Ring near the end. Kind of a silly way to end it if you ask me! The special effects are middling to pretty bad. Jolie looks almost bored in some of the fights, which seems like they made a choice on purpose about. I'm not sure why though.
One thing I appreciated more in this one was that the locations were more interesting overall. Less time spent in the UK and her mansion (though I did appreciate that as a callback to the game). There are some really tropey Asian and African cultural things that felt a bit off, but not in an offensive way. More in a corny way.
Something noticeably worse in this movie is the soundtrack. I couldn't believe how bad it was in parts. Like when she's training on her rifle early on, what the F is that!? Also the Jeep Wrangle Rubicon. Gross.
Recommended?
Sure, if for no better reason than to see the glowing disco ball in the end credits.
