This was a staple of my terrible horror movie watching as a youth, though I had watched it as recently as 4-5 years ago again. This year my daughter wanted to watch it, so here we are.
The plot of this movie is simple: aliens arrive in the small town of Crescent Cove, but they're clowns! They start turning people into cotton candy cocoons to later drink their liquified essence. It's up to a pair of dudes in a love triangle with some girl to stop them! And the one guy's two zany friends. Of course this movie won every Oscar it was ever nominated for!
This movie never takes itself seriously (... obviously?) which works to its favor. The acting is actually pretty decent from a few actors, while it's abysmal by others. The costumes are pretty good overall, though the special effects suffer from being low budget and old. I think what makes this a classic for many people is the music and goofy clowns. They work so well together. There are some classic lines in here too. What are you gonna do with those pies, boys?
