I had never heard of this movie until the other day when I saw a clip of it, looked it up, and thought "oh he was good in Moulin Rouge!" Weird way to decide to watch a movie I suppose. I also saw Nina Singh was in it and she is quite the looker. She's in it for like 30 seconds, but uh, whatever. I didn't read any of the description of it as I like to go in blind.

This movie kind of gave off Forrest Gump running across the US vibes. Harold had a reason whereas Forrest felt like running, but the way it captures the attention of others and the way he goes about meeting people, discussing odd topics, and moving on all felt very Gump. Except, you know, he's not retarded.

There are themes of regret, sadness, and strained relationships. I'm lucky I suppose that I do not feel these things for my actions or life, and so while I appreciate the movie for what it is, I personally don't identify with those aspects. There is part of me that would love to walk indefinitely and just kind of look at stuff though. Maybe if I make it to an age like his...

Aside from the acting being as good as it gets, I quite like the look of it. It has really nice framing, color, depth of focus. Nothing feels wasted or quickened. I guess you could say it feels intentional. For that reason alone, I would give it a little boost.

I now know this was based on a book. Though I'm unlikely to ever read it, maybe that would be your preferred way to "watch" this.

Recommended?

Yeah. I'm not generally a big drama fan, but I quite enjoyed this one.
