This movie is so popular that my wife was like "oh I want to watch that." This is a rare occasion as she's more of a TV series person and not at all a horror person. I have to say I wasn't particularly interested given the vague idea of what I knew of it, but it was so lauded that I had to give it a shot. Is it worth the hype?
NO! I'm going to spoil this review by telling you I hated this movie. It was so boring. SO LONG and yet nothing really happens in it. It's also too predictable. You may not know the exact outcome of certain events before they happen, but you know something in that vein is coming. What's with these movies that are so over-the-top in a message? Where is the subtlety? I will admit I am not the target demo for this type of movie in the first place, but man I really hated every minute of it.
The acting is fine, the direction is fittingly odd, and that's about all the nice things I can say. I don't get why people say this movie is so good.
Recommended?
Not at all. Unless you want to spend 2:21 of your life watching paint dry.
