This little movie is by a director you've probably never heard of. One Alfred Hitchcock. I told you! Total indie guy.

This movie is based on a story, and though I've never read the story, I might have to pick it up to compare. I am a sucker for these types of movies. A little bit of double-crossing, a little bit of mystery, a little bit of a thriller. It's fun stuff.

The acting in this movie is so typical of 40s/50s, so expect some pretty bad melodrama. Despite that, I think it's pretty good compared to a bunch of those older movies. The sets are also really well done, with some nice background filming done on location. Is it weird to miss train stations after watching this? They're such a nightmare in real life, but they're also so nice. Unless you get one that was built for suburbia that's just kind of gross. Cracked subway tile, dingy floors, benches that look like someone died on them. It's highly possible that it doesn't only "look" that way.

I'm getting distracted here. You want to know about this movie! It's paced pretty well outside of some odd shots here and there. The tennis match bit is too long for my taste. It doesn't really build tension so much as DRAG IT OUT and it really didn't need it.

As a total side note, Ruth Roman was an elegant looking woman. Great voice, too.
