Not to be confused with Keepers, starring Gerard Butler! I went into this bad boy with NO KNOWLEDGE of it at all. Just how I like it! But I didn't like it. I'm not even going to try to get you to read the rest of this. I'm flat out telling you I did not like it.
WHY THOUGH? Without getting into spoilers, this type of movie is SO SPECIFIC in who it could scare or creep out. For the rest of us, it's basically an extended (albeit well shot) "alone in the house" trope bonanza. That makes it sound like a home invasion movie and it is decidedly NOT that.
This movie does have some real positives to it including the acting, the way it was shot (AS I MENTIONED ALREADY), and the general atmosphere. The problem is that the story is absolutely inane. Try to care about any of the characters, I dare you! Try to not be bored so much that you want to go to sleep, I double dog dare you! There's also a few really interesting bits to this that I can't reveal without ruining the movie. ...Ok I'm not sure if this is too much or not, but there's definitely some Jason Voorhees type of silliness going on as well.
The ending both almost saved it and also kind of ruined it. If only this had more to it for the first ... I don't know, 80 minutes? Alas...
