I went into this movie knowing absolutely NOTHING about it. I figured it was something religious-oriented from the poster, but beyond that, nada. I don't know how popular Sydney Sweeney is at this point but I remember her being all over a few years back. This movie is an interesting choice for her.

This movie clocks in at 88 minutes but it felt longer because it's one of those slow burn types. I'm not sure the burn worked for me as I assumed the ending that did happen would eventually happen. It was a slight meandering to get there, but ultimately, the movie felt like it mapped itself out within the first 30 minutes or so. I think these movies work better for religious people than someone who, while raised Catholic, has no belief in any of that.

I am a sucker for the imagery and architecture though. I actually like going to cathedrals that are over-the-top because they do give me a sense of being small and unimportant in the grand scheme of life. This movie didn't really have much of that but I wanted to mention it because this is a stream of through blog and I don't have to answer to anyone! Also no one reads this.

I thought Sweeney was pretty good in this. I'd say everyone was quite good in their parts. I liked the priest played by Álvaro Morte. I mean, it wasn't like I identified with him or anything. I found his acting really good. I recognized him from the Wheel of Time series (which I only saw the first season of – SPOILER, I didn't get hooked), but he has a much bigger part in this movie.

As a total detour, I don't understand when people say that Spanish or Italian sound "beautiful." They sound a whole lot like baby talk to me. Like some weird gibberish a child mutters when it's too young to form real words and sentences. I do like how French and Russian sound though, so maybe I'm the weird one.

There are a few comparisons to this movie that I want to make but it will spoil it. Rest assured, I NOTICED and there are definitely better versions of this sort of story.

Recommended?

I think there would be very few people I'd recommend this movie to. It's not bad, but it's such a niche target audience.
