Sometimes I scroll through Tubi for nearly an hour and find a bunch of stuff I want to watch but can't settle on one. Tonight, I saw this one recommended and figured I'd give it a go. A movie about people stuck on a deserted island? You know I'm going to be interested. I didn't read anything else about this, so I went in truly blind. Fun fact, you can't find anything about this movie in terms of reviews right now!

It starts out as a 28 Days Later sort of thing where people are trying to escape a sickness. A mom and daughter get some "safe bands" from a guy and are taken to a boat to escape. It's very clear that the guys have bad intentions for the girls right from the start, as most post-apocalyptic movies do. Another girl on the boat let's the daughter know to lock her room. Helpful! Before you know it, they're on the island alone. I have questions about this, but let's gloss over it like they did and accept it.

I kind of expected a little Tom Hanks "I have created fire" scene here for some reason, but it didn't really happen. I also did NOT expect this movie to become a romance, but hey, here we are. I don't really have much to say about their relationship other than the daughter moves on REALLY FAST after finding she's alone on the island with this other girl. Sure, she's already lost her sister and dad, what's losing a mom too? It's odd.

The romantic building is a bit strange, too. Maybe this is because I'm not a lesbian, I don't know. I've heard they move in together immediately so this could be extremely accurate.

I don't want to give any other bits of the plot away, but it does get slightly twisty. The ending is probably a bit too abrupt and not fleshed out like I would want to see it. A bit of the white walkers being a massive threat until suddenly they're not. This is not a zombie movie, by the way, so don't try to read too much into the white walkers comment.

I'm a sucker for beaches and islands, so I loved the visuals of the movie. The two main girls were pretty solid with what they were given, so I have no complaints about them.

I realized when I got the poster for this that it was a Tubi original, so maybe that's why it has no reviews. Tubi rules though, so just watch it. It's pretty short at 91 minutes.

Recommended?

Hm, do you like deserted island movies? That's your recommendation answer! I will 100% forget everything about this movie in a few months, but I did enjoy it while I watched it.
